Yes, Being Sensitive is a Gift
If you’ve come to realize that you belong in the “sensitive” camp, whether it’s by being a highly sensitive person (HSP), an empath, a Human Design Projector, Reflector, or someone with a lot of open centers in your chart, or by looking back at the accumulated evidence that is your life, you, like me, might have a difficult time reconciling your sensitivity as a “gift”.
Defective, inconvenient, or something to be overcome is more often than not the standard view of sensitivity in many Western cultures. We’re simultaneously too much and not enough, hiding our true nature to blend in, hoping no one will catch on to our little secret.
Our little secret however is actually our secret sauce in this lifetime and it’s time to embrace our truth as sensitives.
Our truth is one of compassion, empathy, being able to process information deeply and see parallels or ideas or solutions non-sensitives cannot. We are often amazing leaders, advisors, consultants, guides, and mentors. We’re who people come to when they want to be seen or want real advice. We carry an aura of trustworthiness, a secret-keeper, a safe-space where someone can finally exhale and tell us all about it.
Yet despite all of these wonderful aspects we come into our lives with, we have a tendency to get hung up on things such as needing rest, quiet, personal space, time to think before making a decision, or space for creativity we’re not trying to monetize, as being “nice to haves” or inconveniences in the world. While hustle culture has been our norm the past decade or so, it’s becoming painfully obvious that the gifts of sensitivity are desperately needed in our world right now.
People are overworked, under-rested, and deeply out of touch with themselves. Social media, which promised us connection across the world, has come with a plethora of downsides, connecting with other humans on a deep level seems impossible, and in general there’s conflict, chaos, and fear blanketing humanity to the point of suffocation.
All of the above are things sensitives souls know and understand deeply. Therefore, the way out of where we’ve gotten ourselves as a human collective is for the sensitive souls of the world to embrace their gifts and start sharing them out loud and unashamedly.
Because there was never anything to be ashamed of to begin with. Your soul came here with its sensitivities for a reason; it was not a mistake. You are assembled correctly and your gifts are needed.
The time of the sensitive soul is now. Are you ready to embrace yours?
